Classification of confined space:

(1) Confined space under the ground, such as basements, underground warehouses, underground construction, underground pipes, subdrain, tunnels, culverts, pits, deep excavation, waste wells, cellars, inspection chambers, biogas tanks, septic tanks, sewage treatment tanks, etc.

(2) Confined space on the ground, such as distiller grain pond, fermentation pond, pickling pond, pulp pond, granary, silo, etc.

(3) Closed-environment, such as cabins, storage tanks, vehicle-mounted tanks, reaction towers (kettle), kiln, furnaces, flues, pipes and boilers.

Common confined space operations are:

(1) Removal and cleaning operations, such as entering the sewage well for dredging, entering the fermentation tank for cleaning, etc.

(2) Installation, replacement, maintenance and other operations of equipment and facilities, such as entering the underground pipe trench to lay cables and the sewage regulating tank to replace equipment.
      (3) Painting, anti-corrosion, waterproof, welding and other operations, such as anti-corrosion operations in the storage tank, welding operations in the cabin.
      (4) Inspection, maintenance and other operations, such as entering the inspection well, thermal pipe trench inspection, etc.

According to operation frequency, confined space operations can be divided into regular operations and sporadic operations:

(1) Regular operation refers to the confined space operation is the main operation of the companies, and the amount of operation is large and the frequency of operation is high. For example, for companies engaged in construction, operation and maintenance, inspection and other operations in the field of municipal operation such as water, electricity, gas, and heat, confined space operations are regular operations of the companies.
     (2) Sporadic operation refers to the confined space operation is only occasionally involved in the companies, and the amount of operation is small and the frequency of operation is low. For example, companies in the field of industrial production clean and repair confined spaces such as furnaces, reactors, towers, tanks, and pipelines, and companies in the field of catering, accommodation dredge and clear sewage wells and septic tanks are sporadic operations of companies.
        According to the main subject of operation, confined space operation can be divided into self-operation and contracted operation:

(1) Self-operation refers to the confined space operation carried out by the personnel of this company.

(2) Contracted operation refers to the confined space operation in which the operation is contracted out and implemented by the contractor.
