Confined space refers to the closed or partially closed, relatively isolated from the outside world, the entrance and exit are relatively narrow, operators can not work for a long time, poor natural ventilation, easy to cause toxic and harmful, flammable and explosive substances accumulation or insufficient oxygen content space. In the process of confined space operation, operators need to face various safety risks, such as gas poisoning, fire, explosion, etc. Before the implementation of the confined space operation, the operators shall be informed of the confined space operation plan and the possible dangerous and harmful factors, prevention and control measures on the operation site. The person in charge of the site shall supervise the operators to prepare for the operation in accordance with the plan.

Adequate preparation should be carried out before working in confined space. First of all, we should conduct a comprehensive and detailed investigation of the operating environment to understand layout and risk factors of the operating area. According to the investigation results, the corresponding operation plan and safety measures should be formulated. At the same time, comprehensive safety education and training should be carried out for operators to make them understand the operation process, risk factors and countermeasures.

Close valves and power supply of electrical equipment, install blind disks, implement plugging and diversion, block the passage of toxic and harmful gases, vapors, water, dust or sediment that threaten the safety of work into the confined space, and clean, empty or replace.

Gas detection. The gases are detected in the order of oxygen, flammable gas, toxic and harmful gas, and the gas detection record is made, and the working environment is classified according to the test results. Select and wear appropriate personal protective equipment according to the hazard factors in confined space and labor protection requirements. Continuous monitoring. In the process of confined space operation, necessary ventilation, lighting, safety monitoring and other measures should be taken, and the gas composition and ventilation in the confined space should be continuously monitored.

Confined space operation has certain safety risks and dangers, so it is necessary to adopt effective safety technical requirements to ensure the safety of operators. In the process of confined space operation, we should make full preparations and take effective ventilation, protective and monitoring measures. At the same time, emergency rescue plans should be formulated and the integrity and availability of emergency rescue equipment should be maintained at all times.
